Peter has studied flamenco dancing under Antonio Reyes Mayo, Chistobal Reyes, Joaquin Ruiz, Inmaculada and Domingo Ortega, Alfonso Loza and Angel Muñoz and visits the famed Fernandez family in Jerez, Spain, regularly.

He also manages SoloFLAMENCO’s Youth Ensemble with the learners of Zonnebloem Nest High School in conjunction with SoloFLAMENCO in 2010, with the ensemble's debut performances scheduled at Artscape and Baxter theatres this year.

He has performed at Artscape, Baxter Theatre, Oude Libertas Amphitheater, Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, Voorkamerfees, On Broadway, Johannesburg Civic Theatre, Mossel Bay Maritime Museum, George Arts Theatre to OBZ Cafe.

He was a member of the La Rosa Dance company for 5 years and has performed and taught at the Wilvan School of Dance for two years, while concurrently establishing his own flamenco group and teaming up with Margarita to join dance studios.

Peter is also the Western Cape Representative for the Spanish Dance Society and has a rich career in the performing arts.

la tanya

La Tanya started her professional dance career at the age of 15 after being spotted by the internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Antonio del Castillo. She subsequently moved to Spain to further her flamenco dance studies at Amor de Dios studios.

She has toured the USA with the Jose Greco Dance Company and diversified into dance theatre management. She also took time to study screenwriting in Los Angeles, California and taught flamenco in New York at Steps on Broadway and Fazils.

In 1996 she returned to South Africa and established Flamenco Fusion (formerly Spanish Flamenco Institute) with the Antonio del Castillo as the artistic director and produced and starred in Agony & Ecstasy, Gitano, Misa Flamenca, España ’99, Peña Flamenca and Percussion; produced the movie ‘Bailando la Palabra’ for Spanish actor and TV presenter Lauren Postigo and coordinated the filming of ‘Boda Zulu’ for the Spanish production company, Larpos.

Additionally, Tanya has coordinated live concerts, art exhibitions and movie festivals for Spanish-speaking embassies in South Africa, specialising in marketing communications and becoming a freelance dance theatre journalist.

Maahirah only recently started flamenco dancing at the Wilvan School of Dance, however, her intuitive rhythmic sense and dedication has made her a natural choice to become part of SoloFLAMENCO’s company.

Maahirah is not a newcomer to dance, having started Royal Academy of Dance ballet training at the age of six.

While in high school she turned professional when she joined the South African Malay Dance Group which toured and performed in five major cities in Malaysia.

Upon return, Maahirah broadened her experience by studying belly dancing at the Hypnotize Dance School, modern dancing and jazz at Dance Africa, besides appearing in an Emo Adams’ music video in 2008 and doing occasional modeling work.

She also studied flamenco guitar, which soon evoked her passion to start her dance studies.

Stacey ‘La Chula’ started her dance training in modern jazz at Eoan Group for eight years.

During the nineties, she initiated her Spanish and flamenco dance studies at La Coral Spanish Dance School, but it was not until 2009 when she joined Margarita’s Spanish Dance School that it became a serious hobby.

Stacey subsequently joined SoloFLAMENCO in 2011.

Chleo ‘La Gamba’ started her flamenco studies at the Wilvan School of Dance and has performed in numerous productions in and around Cape Town over the past eleven years.

She subsequently studied under Cheryl Davids, before joining SoloFLAMENCO.

La Gamba, not only dances, but has taught herself to play the cajon and is inspired by legendary figures like Carmen Amaya.

bienyameen - goodwood

The Cape Town born Bienyameen Camroodien, has been a leading flamenco guitarist for over twenty years.

During this time he has accompanied prominent international flamenco artists including La Truco, Talegon de Cordoba, Juan Meira, Jose Salinas, Jose Pandero, Jose Antonio, Emelio de Diego, Juan Soto, Rocio Fernandes, Paco el Lobo, Antonio Ruiz and Angel Muñoz.

He has performed in Spain, Seychelles, Mauritius to India where he played hand-in-hand with Siva Manie who is one of India’s leading percussionist; collaborated on 'Secret Passions' with the famed Buddha Bar keyboard player Abijeet Pohankar; and was selected to perform at a master class with the world renowned Brazilian classical guitar duo The Asaad.

In 2011 Bienyameen attended master classes with Manolo Sanlucar at the Cordoba International Guitar Festival in Seville.

On local shores, Bienyameen conducted a flamenco workshop at the first ever 'Cape Town International Guitar Festival' in May 2011. He also manages his established latin band called 'Los Gitanos' which has shared the stage with international groups like Shakatak and Kaoma and he has appeared on TV programmes like Pasella, Sinbad the Sailor and Top Billing.

Bienjameen was also the musical director for the La Rosa Dance Company for 7 years. He has performed with Emilio de Diego as guitarist and music composer for the film 'Blood Wedding' and they subsequently accompanied the dancers from the Spanish National Dance Company. Bienjameen started his musical studies at the age of six with piano and turned to classical guitar at fifteen under Aubrey Viegeland, whilst refining his flamenco skills under Santiago Luna and the great Pablo Navarro, with whom he also performed performed for over ten years ... full biography
