Founded by Tanya Diamond in 1996, SoloFLAMENCO has grown into more than just a dance company—it’s a community. Her unwavering dedication to the art of flamenco and her profound impact on our studio and lives will forever be remembered. After her passing in 2023, the studio continued her legacy and is now under new direction.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is simple yet profound: to share the exhilarating world of flamenco with as many people as possible. For the performing company, this means crafting unforgettable performances for both intimate and larger audiences, showcasing the fierce and powerful nature of flamenco. We strive to be a favourite and exciting entertainment option, captivating audiences with every beat and movement.
For our studio, our goal is to develop dancers from beginners to advanced levels. We provide a nurturing environment where each dancer can express themselves and feel at home. We are committed to creating a space where everyone can experience the spirit of this vibrant dance form.
Our vision is to inspire, invigorate, and expose dancers and audiences to and with this dynamic art form. Once you are drawn into the mysterious and addictive world of flamenco, there is no turning back!

Our Role in the Community
SoloFLAMENCO is committed to fostering a sense of community and collaboration. We actively initiate, participate in, and volunteer for events and workshops that bring people together. Together with various studios across Cape Town, we formed and launched the Cape Town Flamenco Collective, hosting our first set of winter workshops in 2024 with more exciting events ahead.
Teaching and Performance
Our classes are designed to cater to all levels, from group choreography and technique classes to private lessons and specialized workshops. We follow a teaching methodology rooted in Spain, focusing on an open class style that promotes both collective growth and individual challenge. Central to our approach is the compás, the rhythmic heartbeat that drives flamenco music and dance.
Our performances are characterized by their fierce and powerful style, leaving a lasting impression on every audience. We offer a range of performance packages for restaurants, small theatres, corporate events, and more, bringing the electrifying spirit of flamenco to diverse settings.
